webzine exploring the impact of trauma on the brain and human behavior
Why does the allure of risk overshadow trust in safety? Where does tolerance for violence originate from? why is it so challenging to love when it's so painfully necessary? And where do I find home?
"This is an attempt to transcend the victim identity. By pinpointing the origin of a young girl's 'breakdown' in her relationship with her father, I documented and reflected on the events in my life where the impacts of childhood trauma were most pronounced. Artist Lera Nerybka conveyed profound themes in her signature naive style, and I included not only personal stories but also research data on PTSD, self-help practices, and insights from the psychotherapist I work with. I hope this webzine serves as support for someone, although I would be happier if it remained simply an engaging narrative rather than a reflection of pervasive phenomena that persist in the history of our country."
